TALOS Open Call concludes with overwhelming participation

The TALOS Open Call, closed on 3 December 2024, received an overwhelming 166 applications from 32 countries. Innovators proposed solutions to enhance solar energy and agriculture through AI and robotics.

The TALOS Open Call, a significant milestone for the project, officially closed on 3 December 2024, showcasing an outstanding response from innovators across Europe. The Open Call invited proposals to develop novel robotics, AI, and data-driven solutions for photovoltaic energy applications. With the final tally of 166 applications submitted from 32 countries, TALOS has set a benchmark for fostering innovation and collaboration in the renewable energy and agricultural sectors. The impressive number of high-quality proposals reflects the growing interest in leveraging AI and robotics to solve pressing challenges in renewable energy.

Participation Highlights:

  • 372 applications started and 166 submitted, far exceeding expectations.
  • Submissions spanned 32 countries, with notable participation from Spain (38), Greece (18), Italy (17), and Portugal (12).
  • The proposals addressed a variety of challenges linked to land-based PV, floating PV, and agrivoltaic scenarios.

What’s Next?

The TALOS evaluation team will now embark on the selection process to identify up to 13 winning projects. Each selected project will receive:

  • Up to €200,000 in funding.
  • A 9-month Support Programme guided by TALOS technical partners.

Winners will be announced by the end of February 2025.
