Dear TALOS Community,

As we are approaching the end of 2024, we’re pleased to share our developments during the project’s 1st year.

So far, everything is progressing smoothly and kept on track. I would define the work done in 2024 in two words: collaboration and ideation. Those were the essential steps to establish a solid foundation for what is yet to come in the project.

Looking ahead, 2025 promises even greater achievements. Through our Open Call, European startups and SMEs will join the consortium, bringing fresh ideas and expertise to develop new, cutting-edge solutions for the PV O&M sector. This expansion will not only increase our scope and ambition but also move us closer to creating a true ecosystem of autonomous O&M solutions for PV parks. To showcase the potential of this fully integrated ecosystem, real-world testing and validation are expected to begin in mid-2025.

The 2nd General Assembly took place in Luxembourg on 25–26 September 2024, marking a key moment for reflection and forward planning. Highlights included:

• Technical updates: Partners presented progress on key innovations, including the deployment of autonomous robots for PV maintenance and monitoring.
• Pilot site demonstrations: A visit to SolarCleano’s facilities showcased the F1 cleaning robot, a pivotal technology in TALOS’s PV operations.
• Future outlook: Discussions centered on upcoming milestones, including testing campaigns and technology validation across pilot sites.

TALOS took part in the AI, Data & Robotics Forum 2024 in Eindhoven, where the project was showcased to leading policymakers, researchers, and industry stakeholders.

• João Formiga (EDP) presented the TALOS project during the session “Harnessing AI, Data, and Robotics for Scientific Advancement,” highlighting the project’s contributions to renewable energy solutions.
• Antonio Montalvo (FundingBox) hosted a workshop focused on innovation transfer mechanisms and TALOS’s Open Call.

This event strengthened TALOS’s visibility and fostered valuable connections within the European AI and robotics ecosystem.

Next year will be full of opportunities to engage further with TALOS’s groundbreaking technologies and impactful solutions:

• Robotics campaigns: Throughout 2025, we will launch a dedicated campaign showcasing the advanced robotic technologies developed and tested at TALOS pilot sites. This initiative will give stakeholders an in-depth view of the innovation driving TALOS.
• Open Call winners: Get ready to meet the winning projects of our Open Call! We will introduce their solutions, explore the technologies behind each challenge, and highlight their potential to advance TALOS’s mission.
• Social innovation & Human-in-the-loop: 2025 will also focus on the social impacts of TALOS, with particular attention to the Human-in-the-loop concept, which ensures human-robot collaboration remains central to our solutions.
